So living in Seattle, I go to many a coffeehouse to hang out and fiddle around on my computer using the house wi-fi. And, as this is Seattle, many, many people do the exact same thing. Which brings me to an etiquette question.

Imagine this scene. I walk into a coffee house and theres a person in line ordering their fancy pants coffee drink (I’m a plain old drip guy). A quick survey of the premises reveals one available table. Do I a) stake out the table, then get in line, b) get in line and hope that the person in front of me is getting a to go fancy pants drink or c) go across the street to the other coffee house and hope the same situation doesn’t present itself.

My past modus operandi has been to get in line (or leave), acknowledging that the person in front of me has the choice weather to take the table or not. However, many times while I sadly acknowledge this fact and get in line SOMEONE ELSE COMES IN AND TAKES THE TABLE!

So whats the proper coffeehouse etiquette here?
