About

Me playing my horn
Im a saxophone player in Seattle. Tenor is my main instrument and what I’m most comfortable on. I also play bass clarinet and the electric wind instrument. I run the EWI through guitar effects and sometimes my laptop. I programed all the sounds for it so I dont use the cheesy sounds the EWI comes with. I like where the sounds are heading…
I studied composition and improvisation in school (New England Conservatory) and come from a jazz background. I make a lot of different types of music. I had a band called Frieze of Life for awhile that did a bunch of my own music (and others in the band) as well as arrangements I made of Bela Bartok and Gyorgy Ligeti’s music. You can hear some of that music on the music page.
My most recent music has been with my trio, Goat. I play a lot of ewi in it. With guitar and drums, the trio format has been fun. We’re currently looking for a drummer.
I also have a large ensemble project I’m currently editing for release. It is made up of composed and structured improvisational sections. 14 musicians. Check out the Mobiles files on the music page for a listen.
I’m currently in a phase where I dont quite know what my next project should be. I have an interesting gig coming up on August 15. It a fun band with Mark Taylor, Byron Vannoy, Geoff Harper, and Zach Stewart. All original music of mine. These are great players and I really like them all as people so that makes making music with them all the more fun.
I teach quite a bit too.
I’m always looking to be part of projects. I love collaborating and being a sideman. I’m available!

Hey Greg, just noodling around the web and stumbled here – just wanted to say HI! ; )Monica
hey, greg. my name is jen gilleran and i am good friends with reuben radding.we played together when i lived in nyc (before he moved to seattle and back again to nyc). i am a drummer and am in costa rica right now (have been for 4 months) and am moving to seattle in a couple months. i asked reuben to suggest some musicians to check out/play with/listen to and you were said to be reuben’s “favorite musician in seattle”. that means a lot to me, ’cause i adore reuben’s musicality. i just wanted to introduce myself and say that i really look forward to meeting you and maybe we can play. i have studied tabla, conga, darbuka and drumset, but i never attended a conservatory and my reading skills are eh. however, my ears are awake. i have played with improv groups as well as with singer/songwriters – the most recent project was for 6 years with a singer/songwriter in boulder, colorado named gregory alan isakov. i am very proud of the work and recordings i did with him. i also started a structured/improv trio called ‘recess’ that included the guitarist janet feder. that was a lot of fun. we sometimes set music to film, othertimes would just show up and play whatever came up for us. it was great great chemistry. i look forward to playing if you are ever interested. take care. – jen gilleran
