I NEED YOUR HELP! Greetings! I’m writing to let you know about a very special project I’ve been working on for over a year - I’m in the final stages of development, and I need your support! Last year I finished a large-scale piece of music titled Mobiles. Mobiles is an extended orchestral work, |

exploring concepts inspired by the art of Alexander Calder, who invented mobiles and created many of them throughout his career. Inspired entirely by his artwork, my finished piece is nearly an hour long, in 5 movements, featuring 13 different musicians with myself as conductor. I’m very proud of this work and the final stage of this amazing journey is to record the piece and release it on a CD. A professional recording will document the piece for my own portfolio, and allow me to reach an exponentially broader community than I can with just live performance. However, recording and producing a work like this is an expensive proposition. Everything – from paying the musicians (each musician will work for 20 hours), to studio time, mixing and mastering, and manufacturing CD’s – while expensive for a solo artist, costs significantly more with a project of this size. Luckily I’ve already secured a significant resource to help offset the costs of this project. I’ve been chosen as a Jack Straw Foundation Artist in Residence for 2008. This honor gives me 20 free hours of recording studio time (an $1100 value) which is what I’ll use to record the piece. However, in order to complete this project on schedule, I must raise an additional $6,000 by Dec 1. Your donation will significantly help defray costs associated with the production of this project. I’m proud to have partnered with Shunpike, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, as my fiscal sponsor. This means your donation to the Mobiles Recording project and Shunpike will be tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. And if your company matches employee gifts, your dollar goes twice as far. Thank you so much for your continued support of my work! Please feel free to contact me at greg@gregsinibaldi.com with any questions. |

February 08 - Dig it... Come check out a performance at the Seattle Improvised Music Festival Feb 15. I'll be performing with Liz Albee (Oakland) and Wade Matthews (Madrid). Good times! Goat begins 10 days of rehearsal/experimentation on March 2-10 for our upcoming CD to be recorded in mid-March. I'm really excited about this band and the possibilities seem endless. Keep an eye out here for CD release party info. I've also been chosen as an artist in residence for 2008 at Jack Straw Productions. I'll be recording my extended work Mobiles later this year. Recording a work of this magnitude is an expensive proposition so I'm currently fundraising for this project and every little bit helps. If you want to help the cause please, please, please send me an e-mail. I'll be in Atlanta in late March recording a new CD with Kenosha Kid. Dan Nettles has composed a soundtrack to Buster Keatons classic Steamboat Bill Jr. In addition to the recording I'll be doing a few gigs too. Keep an eye out here for dates.
